Small Spaces.

As the days become shorter and the sun sets earlier on our afternoons we find ourselves retreating indoors sooner. Chalk is left scattered on the pavement, her rock collection carefully hidden and leaves, flowers and sticks make a pattern that will be blown away overnight.

In an effort to allow our frog to continue being creative over the winter months we have been looking to the corners of our home to find special places where we can nurture her passion. She is still young so I like her to be close to me as I prepare our families meals, clean and pursue my own passion to create. However our home is only small (cosy) and trying to find room for these spaces has been challenging.

Over the coming months I will be showing you ways we have found to incorporate creative spaces for little ones with limited room. Up first, a chalk board. Audrey loves to draw on the pavement with her chalk but there was no way we could fit a chalk board in our already packed lounge room. After bouncing ideas off one another and pouring over images on pinterest Luke and I came up with the following solution....

Love, Elle

Children are not the people of tomorrow, but people today. They are entitled to be taken seriously. They have a right to be treated by adults with tenderness and respect, as equals. They should be allowed to grow into whoever they were meant to be - the unknown person inside each of them is the hope for the future.

  1. I love the spot you chose! A friend of mine painted her fridge with chalkboard paint, which worked a treat. Lola has one nailed to her wall in her room. Some weeks she won't touch it at all, and other days she spends ages drawing away. Such lovely creative outlet when they want it :)

    1. Thanks Hun, it took us a while to decide where to put it but love where it is. She has been drawing all morning but I imagine, like Lola, it will be used some days more then others. Plus I can always write my shopping list on it if she grows out of it!! ha ha x x

  2. Oh this is so gorgeous! Love! x
